The Autism and Entitlement Provision (School and Learning Centre)

Curriculum Vision

The Autism Provision at the school site (KS3/4) and Entitlement Provision (KS5) is a discreet provision which provides a consistent and structured environment and approach for students who may find it difficult to adapt to change.

The curriculum enables students  to fulfil their academic potential and access activities which are meaningful, fun and differentiated to meet each individuals’ educational needs and support them in working towards their EHCP Outcomes and future destination.

 The Autism and Entitlement Provision is a motivating and engaging provision where students are encouraged to be as independent as possible, where they are given the opportunities to thrive and make good progress in all areas of their learning.

 

Autism and Entitlement Route Curriculum offer

Students within the Autism and Entitlement provision have access a range of subjects, including Maths, English, RSHE, ICT, Living Skills and Outdoor Education. Living skills sessions include Cooking, looking after ourselves and looking after the home.

 

The Autism and Entitlement Provisions provides an environment which promotes students’ communication skills using a total communication approach which includes;

  • Communication books/ PEC's
  • Signalong
  • Symbols & pictures
  • Concrete objects
  • Intensive Interaction
  • Sensory processing activities
  • Attention Autism

These techniques help young people to manage everyday activities and successfully interact and develop students learning socially, emotionally, and academically on a daily basis.

 

Assessment is ongoing and is recorded electronically, students are encouraged to engage with this process as much as they are able. Self Assessment is at the core of what we do and it takes place within lessons which allows students to be part of their learning journey and record their achievements giving them a sense of pride and boost self-esteem.
