Music KS3

Curriculum Vision

At New Bridge, we believe that music education plays a vital role in the development of pupils and provides opportunities for the pupils to express themselves in a variety of ways. Our  music curriculum is designed to inspire creativity and encourage self-expression. Through a variety of engaging activities, pupils explore different musical genres, instruments, and techniques, fostering a lifelong appreciation for music.

Our dedicated music educators provide a supportive environment where students can develop their skills both individually and as part of a group. We encourage participation in ensemble work, allowing students to collaborate and learn from one another. This teamwork not only enhances their musical abilities but also builds essential social skills that are invaluable in their personal development.

We also offer opportunities for pupils to showcase their talents through performances and school events. These experiences help to build confidence and stage presence, which are important attributes for any aspiring musician. We expose them to music from diverse cultures and periods, teaching them to respect and appreciate different musical traditions and communities. At New Bridge, we are committed to nurturing the musical potential of every child, ensuring they have the tools and support they need to succeed.

Music Lessons at New Bridge School

Music lessons are designed to cultivate an appreciation for diverse genres of music and foster an understanding and exploration of the sounds that surround us. Our aim is to provide all children and young people with the opportunity to perform on a variety of instruments and actively participate in both group and individual music making.

In our Music lessons, children and young people will hone their skills in singing, playing both tuned and untuned instruments, improvising and composing music, and listening and responding to various musical styles. They will also gain an understanding of the historical and cultural context of the music they encounter, as well as learn how music can be transcribed.
