Bolton Museum
A big thank you to Mr. Steven who has become an integral part of the class team, someone who was born for this vocation. We are hoping that Mr. Steven can support the class an extra day next half term.
The class had a lovely day looking at all of the wonderful things the museum had to offer. We were given a check sheet to mark off all of the artefacts we could find. The class started off looking at the history of Bolton and were able to relate to all the things they had been learning in their history lessons about the Industrial Revolution.
Our next stop on the tour was the Egypt Gallery, We found sacred creatures like the Scarab Beetle, we even found a fragment of a column form the ancient Egyptian Temple of Herishef. The pupils took great delight in hearing from Mr. Hanif about the gruesome processes of mummification, even Mr. Steven was shocked about learning how organs were stored in canopic jars.
We then wandered into the Nature Gallery where we spotted a huge Brown Bear from Siberia. These bears are also known as Grizzly Bears, and are almost as scary as Mr. Hanif when he hasn’t had his morning brew. There was a vast area of creatures to see, some of the favourites were the elephant and emu.
For the last part of our journey, we sank to the bottom of the museum and into the Aquarium we saw fish from around the world including Miss Thorpe's favourite. the Catfish, who she thought reminded her of Mr O’Neil and the rest of the pastoral team from Movember.
The pupils had a wonderful day and can’t wake for the next adventure with Mr. Hanif, Miss Stansfield, Miss Thorpe and Mr. Steven!
