For Katie
It’s been a sad week at the Learning Centre.
I would like to dedicate this week’s blog to the memory of one of our amazing Students, Katie Craven, who very sadly passed away on Saturday morning.
Katie has been part of the New Bridge family since she joined in Year 7 and she has touched the hearts of so many staff and students.
Katie joined us at the Learning Centre in September 2024 and in that time, she has definitely made her mark!
Katie had a fantastic sense of humour, some may say wicked!
It was Katie's way or no way, and her bottom lip would regularly be on show to ensure staff were on their toes.
Katie had such a love for Little Mix; she would have the whole class dancing along to every song.
She knew them all and would have the biggest, brightest smile when any Little Mix song was played.
Katie was also a ‘Strictly’ fan and every Monday, a debrief of the weekend's previous show took place. She would clearly indicate her approval or not!
Katie also loved watching anything to do with natural disasters, floods, tornadoes, and she would giggle lots when anything went wrong in class!
She loved nothing more than someone falling over or dropping something! Katie had a really hearty and infectious laugh which filled the room.
Katie's friends were very important to her, she was much loved and enjoyed hanging out and chuckling together.
Although Katie's health has deteriorated over the years her spirit never did.
Katie will be sadly missed by staff and students alike, at New Bridge School and Learning Centre, and also by the nursing team who have known her since childhood.
Our thoughts and prayer go out to Sharon, John and the family at this very sad time.
Night, God Bless, Katie
