Giving Blog
New Bridge School was opened nearly 20 years ago. In fact, this September will be its 20th Birthday. Within these 2 decades – we have been in a fortunate position of being able to give and receive lots of donations that allow our children to experience lots of different events, resources and residentials.
Over the past 12 months, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of businesses, charities and, of course, our staff teams and families. Over the month of December, this included donations of toys and food for our children.
Through organisations we have sought after and gained funding through Greater Sport – which has allowed us to purchase cycles for all our students, trained our staff to be able to ensure we are teaching cycling safely and invite others into our school to take part in our events.
Through charity funding from Dream Come True, we have developed our outside areas – the playground at the back of school has football and basketball goals and seating areas. Our sensory garden at the front of school – will allow our children to experience play through sensory activities.
For the visitors to our school – our most recent donation is our learning hut.
Built by Artic Cabins, out hut was donated to us and last week we had an official opening by the global superstar – Aitch.
Harrison’s hut is going to make such a difference for our young people. It will be a place where our children feel happy and safe. It will be a place where we can play, learn and have fun.
The hut will be a place of excitement and exploration – allowing our children to have an outdoor / indoor learning experience. A massive thank you to the family for your time last week. It really will be such an amazing addition to our school.
We also had some visitors from Vision for Education who donated a cheque to us. Vision support us in staffing and through our wonderful HR staff – Julie McCarthy and Bridget Barnes – they were invited in to meet our children and share OUR vision. The money donated will be used to develop our sensory / hut area. The School Council tell me that they want us to purchase outdoor bean bags for our children with poor mobility. So that’s what we are going to do. Thanks again to Vision and to Julie and Bridget.
The best gifts of all are our children here at New Bridge. We honestly feel that it is a privilege being part of their journeys and destinations. Every day our children bring us something different and ensure that we always give them what they need. This afternoon I have watched some of AB students’ cycle, Key Stage learn through the use of Ipads and our IB students experience sensory learning and fun. Our pictures in social media really do show what it’s like here day in day out and how- our children are the centre of what we do.
Spring 1 is nearly at an end and I’m sure – there will be lots to celebrate over the last week of this half term.
We hope everyone has a brilliant weekend (and the snow stays away...)
Stay safe
