Learning Centre Blog 10.10.25
Weekly blog 10th Oct 25
It has been a truly magical week at the learning Centre.
Yesterday was ‘Harry Potter’ day and the building was turned into a mini-Hogwarts for the day. Staff and students embraced the theme, dressing up as lots of different characters from the Harry Potter books. We had students, ghosts, Dementors (really scary!), Professor McGonagall, Professor Trelawney, various witches, and I’m sure I saw the sorting hat sat on a table!
I had to join in the fun, and all credit to Mr Barker for being the only slytherin character! We even had a battle of wands…
Although all good in the end!
Mrs Keane’s class were captivated with her dramatic reading from chapter one., she shared the following quote which seems apt.
Well done to everyone for getting involved, here are just a few pics...
Today we took part in ‘Hello Yellow’ which is organised annually by Young Minds to raise money and to celebrate world mental health day. We wore yellow and donated a pound, The nurture group ran the wellbeing café, Massive well done and thanks guys! Students remained in tutor group to learn and talk about or mental health and wellbeing.
This term Mrs Brierley's class has been working hard in RSHE learning about their feelings and healthy lifestyles, and as part of creative arts have been studying Monet and exploring Vienna rich musical culture, from Mozart to yodelling in just a few weeks! Well done guys!
In Mrs McNamara’s IB class students have been ‘shinning bright’ and making great progress, especially around their sensory work. I absolutely loved the photos, great to see beaming smiles!’ Please check out this weeks blogs for yourselves.
Finally I need to mention Bailey, who has taken it upon himself to lead the way in renovating our living skills flat.
Bailey wants to ensure its modern and fully accessible for all our students. I’m so excited to watch developments unfold and very proud of you Bailey!
