Learning Centre Blog (25.4.25)

Hi all and welcome back to a brand new term.

It's difficult to believe we are already starting our summer term, it doesn’t seem two minutes since we were welcoming our year 12 students to the Learning Centre!

I was delighted to read the Nurture Group blog on Facebook and hear about what they’ve been up to.

Great work on raising money for Comic Relief.

I have to mention the hard work and dedication of staff and students in running the café, ensuring staff and students had drinks, cakes, collected monies, cleared tabled, chatted to students, you were all amazing, especially the way you interacted with students from across the Learning Centre, I was very proud of you all.

The Nurture group blog also highlights the great work students are doing within Creative Arts lessons.

This was a new initiative in September and students have totally embraced their creative skills. This is a subject we are looking to further develop in September, I look forward to sharing the news in future blogs.

Last term we were all dressed in green to mark St Patricks day.

This week, we celebrated St George’s day, the red and white flags can still be seen around the Learning Centre.

Looking to next week, on Wednesday morning, students will be taking part in a range of activities and lessons, celebrating the diversity, acceptance and understanding of autism.

Students will also be completing a collaborative project, details to follow in next week’s blog.

We are also starting to pull together plans for our Year 14 Leavers events. Our Record of achievement will be taking place at Smokies Hotel on Ashton Road, on the morning of the 1st of July.

This is the first time the event has been held at an external venue, I’m very excited!

Our Prom will be held on the evening of the 11th July at Oldham Athletic.

Invites and further information will be going out to year 14 families/ carers very soon.

Have a lovely weekend.
