This term in English, the Community Living groups have been following the topic of ‘Medicine Through the Ages’.
We have looked at medicine from the time of the ancient Greeks through to modern day. Students have been amazed at how strange and awful some treatments were.
I’ve been impressed by how much students have remembered about handwashing and good hygiene from what they learnt during Covid.
Students have made lots of comparisons between how things were done in the past compared to today.
We then looked the Great Plague and how Samuel Pepys gave us lots of information about what was happening at the time through his diaries.
Students then had a go at writing their own diary entries. They could use symbols, pictures, type or handwrite their entries, and we focussed on writing in the past tense.
