Ebase 4

All the students in E-Base 4 are very excited to share with you the numerous events/topics that we have participated in during the term so far, most recently St. Patrick's Day celebrations throughout the globe, our celebration of Red Nose Day and learning about the practice of horticulture.

Let’s start with our activities involving the Irish national holiday of Saint Patrick's Day. The 17th of March was Saint Patrick's Day this year, as a class we learnt about who St Partick was all about his story, we also learnt about the numerous St Patrick’s day traditions and different celebrations including wearing traditional Irish clothing and tap dancing and Irish music. To celebrate this, we all took turns making drawings such as rainbows and even made some miniature leprechaun hats which we all had a go at trying on.

During this term, we also decided to say goodbye to our birdwatching area and welcome our new potting station! Over the past few weeks, the students of Ebase 4 have been trying their hands at a spot of horticulture and have began growing cress and spring onions, we have all enjoyed watching them grow from seeds into sprouts and hopefully when fully grown we can introduce them into our cooking lessons, we plan on making egg and cress sandwiches before the end of term.

Another big event that occurred this term was Red Nose Day where we all learnt about all the work taking place around Britain for charity. Also known as Comic Relief, this year we celebrated as a school by all our classes making various red nose themed creations with our class going for the idea of Feathers McGraw from one of the student’s favourite show Wallace and Gromit holding a red ball. All students joined in to help make our poster using multiple different textures on all parts of the penguin, we even came 2nd place out of the whole school!

Lastly our class would love to share with you all our activities involving The World Book Day this year. The students all came together to learn about World Book Day and what it means to people. We discussed each other’s favourite books, students enjoyed reading traditional fairy tales such as Goldilocks and the three bears, Jack and the beanstalk and the Ginger Bread Man. We then went on to make our own bookmarks, play guess the fairy tale as a group.

This has been an amazing term so far with all students making this term just as great as the last. We can’t wait to share with our projects from the next term!

Thanks, from all the staff in EbaseHMD.
