Mrs T's Blog (23.5.25)

And just like that, we are at the end of the first summer term. Whilst this term has been short and sweet, it’s been absolutely crammed with lots and lots of events.

My favourite events this term have been VE Day (2 weeks ago), which was just an amazing day and Parents Evening – which we hosted this week and the Total Communication Event – which was just last Friday.

I think our Parents Evening has been one of THE most attended events we have hosted since Covid.

The feedback we have received was brilliant and I’m going to share some of the comments we received.

" Thank you for all your hard work, I can't imagine what we will do when he leaves next year. When I see him I see your team effort have paid off. Your hard work with him has been amazing from him coming in one hour per day and now every day for the whole day. We cannot thank you enough."

"I want to say a massive ‘thank you ‘for all your hard work. Since joining New Bridge we have seen a significant difference in our son. He is happy, has friends and is settled in class. His siblings want to attend New Bridge, because it seems a really happy place."

"We are aware that we don’t always get it right, but one thing we do is makes sure we work towards getting it right. It’s a journey that takes time. Thank you to all families who attended and to the staff team who made sure everyone got seen and spoken to."

Last week we hosted the Communication Works event and as I stated in the blog last week, the day was opened by an amazing lady called Laura Brown who is a powerful advocate for Assistive Technology and a parent of an autistic son.

Laura also blogs via Instagram and other platforms (@spinningworld of autism). Laura wrote to me after the event...

"Hi Alison

It was wonderful to meet you at the Commutation Works Event on Friday. Firstly thank you for the warm welcome into your wonderful school – I absolutely loved the learning walks, what a fabulous opportunity to see your outstanding school in action. And secondly thank you for listening to my opening speech – such as wonderful opportunity for me to speak to such and eager room of people all loving AAC as much as I do.

Kind regards

Laura"

This week has definitely been time for celebration.

This is from our PE department.

On Thursday some of our amazing students took part in the North West finals for Panathlon at Bolton Arena. This was a competition between the 6 best county winners across the North-west.

Our students competed extremely well in all the activities and their skill, application and effort was amazing to see throughout. Overall, we came away with a bronze medal, third place in the North West!

Well done to all involved.

That’s it for us. Summer 1 is over and I’m sure that Summer 2 will be amazing and full of learning, fun and activities . I'm looking forward to the pictures from Holiday Club – especially seeing the students enjoy an amazing week!

Have a great half term break.

School re-commences on Monday 2nd June .

Stay Safe
