Mrs T's Blog (26.9.25)

For this week’s blog, I want to share you one of our Destination Champions, Charlie Sweeting.

Roman Road have recently employed Charlie as a Midday Supervisor.

We talk all the time about our 6 destinations:

- Being involved

- Taking part

- Taking Control

- Playing a part in my community

- Volunteering in my community

- Working in my community

- Being independent

When Charlie began his journey with the New Bridge Trust, way back in 2015 – I am sure both Charlie and his family could not have predicted that by the year 2025, that he would be entering into the world of work. This result is testament to his resilience, hard work and effort.

I am incredibly proud to welcome Charlie to our New Bridge team. He will be an amazing asset and I am sure – his new post will be the start of a new journey into independence and work.

I'm sure his story will be an inspiration to others

Charlie Sweeting began his journey with us at Hollinwood Academy in September 2015, and over the past ten years, he has grown into a confident, kind, and hardworking young man. In July 2025, Charlie completed his time at Hollinwood and transitioned to New Bridge College, marking a new and exciting chapter in his life.

Throughout his time at Hollinwood and New Bridge College, Charlie embraced every opportunity that came his way. He took part in a variety of work placements, each one helping him build valuable skills, independence, and self-belief. Charlie’s dedication and positive attitude made him a role model to many.

On Monday 23rd September 2025, Charlie proudly began his new role as a Midday Supervisor at New Bridge School, Roman Road. At the end of his first day, he shared with his mum, “It made me feel nice that so many people spoke to me on my first day.” This simple yet powerful reflection speaks volumes about the warmth of our school community and the impact of inclusion and kindness.

That’s it for us this week.

Have a lovely weekend (September is nearly over !!!)

Stay safe
