Mrs T's Blog (3.10.25)

The best part of my job is watching the amazing learning that goes on at Roman Road.

Over the up-and-coming week to half term, myself and other leaders in the school are taking part in learning walks.

Today, I've seen some brilliant work in 2 PE sessions. The first group – 8DPD were learning about the Fundamentals of Movement.

Many years ago – I taught PE at New Bridge, and I loved teaching this aspect of movement – speed, co-ordination and today’s lesson agility. It was brilliant to see 8DPD warming up and moving, using co-ordination skills to move to the cones and pass the ball.

Just a delight.

Thank you to Miss Wilson for sharing the experience with myself and Mr Jenkins.

Second up was the Autism Base swimming – with Miss Jameson. Some of the students swimming this morning are new to our school ( year 7) and they entered the pool beautifully and really engaged with instructions – going into the shower, then getting into the pool and then splashing and some ball throwing. Lovely to watch.

Next up was music with Mr Thompson and 8SCS. Ms Coleman Celis watched the lesson with me and was amazed to see her class learning chords, playing them on the iPad using Garage Band and then finally constructing a final piece – all based on 4 chords.

Finally, the last session was PE with Mr Drake and IB6 – who were learning about sending (passing a ball) through a push action. IB6 were just simply amazing – pushing balls of different sizes toward a variety of different goals – taking turns, listening to instructions and working with each other.

Alongside Ms Mills and MS Nuttal – the group worked at different stations and were simply brilliant.

All in all a brilliant ‘snapshot' of what goes on here. I'm excited to see what next week brings...

That’s it for me...

Have a brilliant weekend

Stay safe
