Destiny Update... Capturing the Spirit of Destiny Through Film, Photography and Design
The first project that the Destiny team have undertaken this term is producing a promotional video. The aim of the video is to promote Destiny and its three core strands; Videography, Photography and Design.
The brief was to produce a video approximately two minutes in length, to promote Destiny to existing and potential clients. Displaying a full range of the services provided in a professional manner.

It included: shooting footage, audio capture, soundtrack selection, scripting, title selection and film editing.
All the team shot footage in our Destiny studio and around the town centre, recorded scripted interviews and produced high-quality videos.
They developed framing and shooting skills, along with complex editing techniques.
The results were impressive with all displaying a total understanding of what Destiny offers.
The high standard resulted in three videos being selected, so we can tailor our marketing to specific clients.

All members produced a standard of work that exceeded expectations, particularly our first year members. Amazing work that we are all proud of.

Mathematics Update... Maths, Magic and Milestones
Over the past couple of weeks, students have successfully completed their BKSB initial assessments. These assessments have provided a valuable baseline of each student's current skills and knowledge, helping staff to identify strengths and areas for development. The information gathered will support future planning and ensure that learning activities are tailored to meet individual needs and help students make continued progress throughout the year.
In maths, the focus topic over the past few weeks has been division. Students have been developing their understanding of division by using their existing multiplication knowledge to solve division calculations. Through a range of practical activities, discussions and problem-solving tasks, students have explored the link between multiplication and division, building confidence in recalling multiplication facts and applying them to division questions. This approach has helped students develop their fluency and understanding of inverse operations.
Last Thursday, students also enjoyed taking part in Harry Potter Day with a maths-themed challenge. The Hogwarts post had arrived, but instead of delivering magical spells, students received a series of worded exam-style questions involving the four operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Working collaboratively, students carefully read each problem, discussed the mathematical language used, and identified the correct operations and order needed to complete the calculations. The activity provided an engaging opportunity for students to develop their reasoning, teamwork and problem-solving skills while applying the mathematical methods they have been learning in lessons.

IT Update... Staying Connected and Staying Safe
This term in IT, students have been exploring a range of important E-Safety topics designed to help them stay safe and informed online. Areas covered include "Do You Know Who You’re Talking To?", mobile device privacy settings, and understanding where to seek help and support when needed.
Students have engaged really well throughout the topic, contributing thoughtfully to group discussions and sharing their own experiences. A particularly valuable aspect of the course has been the opportunity for students to bring their own mobile devices into sessions, allowing them to review and adjust their privacy settings with support. This hands-on approach has helped students develop a greater understanding of how their devices work and how to protect their personal information online.
This week, our focus has been on identifying trusted support networks, including members of their Inner Circle, college support services, and wider community organisations. As we come to the end of this topic, it has been encouraging to see students build on their existing knowledge while also discovering new ways to stay safe online. For many, reviewing their device settings has been a real eye-opener, leading to positive changes and a greater awareness of the importance of online privacy and digital wellbeing.
