New Bridge Pathways Blog - 2.2.24

Activ8

This term, Activ8 have chosen to learn about volleyball and this week we covered how to successfully carry out the ‘dig’ using the correct technique.

Activ8 2.2.24

All students have shown true resilience when overcoming certain challenges and we have witnessed strong teamwork and self-determination skills to overcome any setbacks.

The class have demonstrated that they can apply the skills they are learning into both isolated tasks and competitive situations. We are looking forward to the next couple of lessons, which will include the ‘set’ and ‘spike.’

One of our main focuses, a side of learning new skills and playing games is to understand the rules and regulations so that the game can be played both fairly and successfully.

Well done, Activ8.

CL1

It’s been another busy week in COMLIV1 as usual, everyone has been working very hard. In our pathway project on Monday we are looking at healthy bodies and healthy minds.

CL1 2.2.24

We have thought about different parts of exercise routines such as warm ups and cool downs and why they are important. We split into groups and have started to create our own mini exercise plan based on one part of an exercise routine.

In our Environmental Awareness project, we have started creating posters to raise awareness of the importance of eating food that is locally grown and in season, as well as the impact of global food.

Digi 1

Digi 1’s topic for this half term in Living Skills is ‘independent travel’ and to support our young people we have been looking at using public transport to enable them to one day be confident to use public transport.

Digi 1 2.2.24

On Wednesday we visited Oldham bus station to look at where students can catch different buses. Students independently found what stand to go to for different bus routes. Students then had the opportunity to look in some shops where some young people used their money skills to buy items of their choice.

Miss McMurray, Mrs Lungu and Miss Byrne were very impressed with how they conducted themselves whilst out and about in Oldham Town Centre. It was lovely to see that the young people were aware of road safety and very courteous to members of the public. Well done!
