Pathways Blog - 10.10.25

This week kicked off our learning visits, and what a joy it’s been. Mr. Southerington and I have had the privilege of stepping into classrooms and witnessing some truly inspiring teaching and learning in action, and the impact this has on our learners. These moments remind us why we do what we do.

One of the most rewarding parts of our role is watching pupils discover their unknown strengths, rise to challenges, and grow in confidence. It’s a journey we’re proud to support and it’s clear that our staff are leading the way with skill, passion and dedication, with the pupils at the heart of everything they do.

From creative lesson delivery to thoughtful student engagement that is built on the foundation of mutual respect, the climate for learning is safe, encouraging and inclusive. We’re excited to continue these visits and celebrate the incredible work happening across our school.

I would just like to remind you that next Friday, 17th October, we are celebrating Harry Potter day, and pupils (and staff) are encouraged to dress up as their favourite Character   I have my gown and broom ready for the occasion.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Exploring Emotions in the Classroom

This week in Living Skills CL2 CPR class have been diving into an important topic: emotions. Through thoughtful discussions and creative activities, we have explored different scenarios that have made us them feel comfortable or uncomfortable.

From talking about times that they have felt proud or nervous, to identifying what helps them feel safe and supported, the children showed great understanding. These conversations are helping them build emotional awareness, understand their own feelings, and respect how others might feel in different situations.

It’s been wonderful to see them grow in confidence as they learn to express themselves and support one another. Emotional learning is a key part of helping our students thrive both in and out of the classroom!

PE

This week students have been accessing MADHLO where they have been playing basketball, and the gym at New Bridge College.

Developing their dribbling skills and using the newly learnt skills in a game, all students enjoy their PE lessons and always make positive contributions. Students who accessed the gym are following a programme to develop their strength and fitness whilst supporting their individual needs.

Students often say how they like the gym and the independence of working out on their own.
