Pathways Blog - 17.10.25
There has been magic in the air as Pathways drank some Polyjuice potion and transformed into Hogwarts for our first Harry Potter Day.
Dressed in their Hogwarts robes, Pupils and staff were placed into the houses of Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Slytherin and Hufflepuff by the Sorting Hat, and proceded to their lessons in Defence against the Dark Arts, Potions, Charms, and Feasts! There was even a visit to the Whomping Willows!! Images of this magical day follow below.
“Well Done” to Ravenclaw, as they won the House Cup with a massive 5410 points!!

The day got me thinking that some of the spells used in the Harry Potter books are relevant to our approach at Pathways.
Alohomora - We are always looking at ways to unlock pupils skills and talents.
Wingardium Leviosa - pupils and staff rise above any challenge that face us.
Lumos - our school community shines brightly. Dumbledore reminds us that “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light”.
But what we do at Pathways isn’t magic - combined work and support from our learners, staff and families make it a reality.
Many of the messages in the books are things that define our Pathway ethos:
- Friendship is powerful.
- It's okay to ask for help.
- We don't let the past define us.
- And finally, as Dumbledore said, "It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities".
A big thank you to families for your continued support for our pupils.

Student Success and Conduct During Pathway Day and The Lowry Visit
Mr. Darnbrough and Miss Done would like to take a moment to express how incredibly proud we are of all our students for the outstanding level of effort, dedication and determination shown during the Health and Fitness activities on Pathway Day. Every student approached the challenges with enthusiasm, resilience and a positive attitude demonstrating not only their commitment to personal wellbeing but also their ability to work effectively as a team.
In addition to their performance during Pathway Day, students also conducted themselves brilliantly during the visit to The Lowry on Tuesday. Travelling via public transport they represented the school with maturity and respect impressing both staff and members of the public alike. Their behaviour, curiosity and engagement throughout the visit reflected the values we strive to uphold as a school community.
Keep up the good work and we look forward to watching you progress as the academic year unfolds.

Pathways went into town to do a survey on places to eat out.
Then a visit to the Gallery Café, to order their own drinks and pay for them.
Their behaviour was amazing; they were very polite and considerate.
Well done, CL4 Pathways
