Pathways Blog Post - 06.11.2026

The sky has been alight over the past few evenings as fireworks have erupted overhead for the anniversary of the prevention of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605.

The illumination continues into the weekend as we also see the start of Diwali, the Festival of Light - Shubh Deepavali!

On these dark, cold evenings, celebrations like these bring brightness, excitement, togetherness and joy.

On a more solemn note, this weekend also is a time for remembrance. Sunday will see the country pause and reflect on the sacrifices British service members made during the World Wars and in later conflicts.

On the 11th November, Pathways will be observing a moment of silence to remember the people that have died defending our way of life and upholding our British Values.

Next Friday (13th) is Children In Need Day. Pupils are invited to come to School wearing in Non-uniform and donations, to raise funds for national projects, are greatly appreciated.

Enjoy your weekend – stay safe

CL3 - SPM

This week the CL3 students enjoyed an exciting trip to Tandle Hills as part of our recycling project. Our mission was to collect pinecones that we can transform into beautiful Christmas decorations for our upcoming Christmas Market.

Before setting off, we learned about the different types of trees that produce pinecones. The students discovered that pinecones grow on conifer trees, such as pine, fir and spruce trees. We explored how pinecones help trees reproduce by protecting and spreading seeds.

At Tandle Hills, the students worked hard to search for and collect pinecones from the woodland floor. They showed great teamwork, enthusiasm and respect for the natural environment as they carefully gathered the best cones for our project.

Back in the classroom, we researched different ideas for Christmas decorations that could be made using recycled and natural materials. The students looked at a variety of creative designs, including painted pinecones, festive ornaments, wreath decorations and Christmas tree hangings. Everyone shared their favourite ideas and discussed which decorations would be most suitable for selling at the Christmas Market.

This project has helped the students develop their understanding of recycling and sustainability while encouraging creativity and teamwork. We are looking forward to turning our collected pinecones into festive decorations and sharing our finished products with the Pathway community at the Christmas Market.

Well done, CL3 students, for your hard work, excellent research and fantastic teamwork. We can't wait to see the finished decorations!

CL4

This week CL4 have looked at Remembrance and why we remember people's service.  We have learnt why we wear Poppies and the significance of them. We have considered the roles that animals have played in this and looked at purple poppies people wear to remember service animals.

On Tuesday we visited Alexandra Park and collected some red leaves. We then created poppies from the leaves and used them to create a large wreath.

In food, we have considered the costs of branded and non-branded food, testing different foods to consider the taste, texture, smell and appearance to decide which one we think is better. We also decorated biscuits to look like poppies

CL5

This week, CL5 have been developing their maths skills and working with money! Students have been working to understand how to make up different amounts of money with a variety of coins, as well as competing to see who can do so in the fastest time. Students have made use of their iPads and physical prop coins to help them in their learning journey as they become masters of money!
