World Book Day at The Learning Centre

Here's a World Book Day Update from Mrs Keane...

"To celebrate World Book Day this year, I asked the students and staff at the LC to bring in their favourite book.  Here’s how the day went…"

IB1

Cena has brought his favourite book today that he reads every night. 'Butterflies Suits' by little Einsteins.

Today we are joining online with World book day Marvin Story Time show.

Zahra

"I love my book, Frozen. I like it because it’s good and it makes me feel happy.  The book has good pictures in it. I would give it 10/10."

Mr Spiby

"A profound story about the strength of will in overcoming adversity, with an intercontinental, star-crossed romance rising from the ashes of the Second World War. I had no expectations when I first opened this book - I didn't even have an idea of what the plot would consist of - but I am thoroughly enjoying the read; this is definitely one for my 'Favourite Books' list once I've finished it. I'm intrigued to see how the last two chapters will play out, so no spoilers!"

SRECOM1

SRECOM1 chose their favourite book today from Epic, some enjoyed sports books whilst others were enjoying princess stories. They all had a wonderful time reading the books and have made a collage with pictures of their books.

Bailey

"I liked Billionaire Boy when I was younger. It is entertaining and interesting. The main character is good, he is funny. David Walliams in an inspirational writer.  He has written lots of books and I have read a few of them. 7/10."

Nursery

The nursery at the LC were also celebrating World Book Day. Zara, who does work experience there sent this photo.  The staff had set up different tables with themed books.

Jamie

"I like this book because it reminds me of my childhood.  I used to watch Cinderella when I was little. This book is a strange, different version of Cinderella. I would give it 9/10."

Miss Knox

"I sat reading this on a sandy beach in Kefalonia. I couldn’t put it down. A truly inspirational book that made me appreciate life and how lucky I am. 10/10."

Molly

"I like these books because they are interesting, dark, graphic and gruesome. They are YA fiction books. Some characters are evil, some are good. There are 13 books in the series, I have just started the first one. 9/10."

Miss Allison

2This is a beautiful book which takes you through the year of a Welsh Sheep farmer in Eyiri (Snowden). It is also filled with fabulous drawings of landscapes, its people and of course ‘sheep’!"

COMMS 3 WBY

"Aanas brought in a cookery book, he likes it because he is a cooking master and the only Object Show community member who can cook.

Paige brought in Jason and the Voyage to the End of the World, (Jason and the Argonauts), She said it’s funny and amazing and then said the one she wanted wouldn’t fit in her bag.

Millie brought in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, she likes the pictures and she likes the Oompa Loompas.

Jack brought in a magazine all about buses, he loves anything to do with buses.

I brought in The Highway Rat, I like that it rhymes and that a TV programme has been made which is fun to watch."

Catherine

"I like this book because there’s a mean girl called Mackenzie who likes to gossip and share other people’s secrets. She’s nosey! This book is entertaining, I’ve read it 8 times! I give it 10/10."

IBGCR

"Today, students in IBGCR have brought in their favourite book and we have spent the morning sharing the books we love to read, with the rest of the class.

We also took part in the Positive Looking World Book Day Webinar.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the show and were developing their visual skills whilst enjoying a story."

Mrs Keane

"I brought in two of my favourite books. One is a treasury of fairy stories that my grandma gave to me for my 2nd birthday. It’s 50 years old! It has beautiful pictures in it.

The other book is the Handmaid’s Tale. I bought this copy when I was 17, so it’s quite old too. It’s been made into a TV drama but the book is brilliant."

EMPVPK

Rose enjoyed reading the Mrs Keane’s old fairy tale book with her reading pen, whilst Stacey and Shannon read a brand new book.

"It seems like World Book Day has been a great success at the Learning Centre.  Thank you to everyone who brought books in."
